Israel Higher Education Facilities Attracts Indian Students:
The students going abroad for higher education are now scouring countries other than the traditional bases of US and UK. Now it has been reported that Israel has also been offering several higher education opportunities to Indian students. To attract more Indian students, Israel universities are offering several facilities and recently officials of five institutes of Israel visited India recently, to interact with potential students, among others.
As part of attracting Indian students, Israel offers various other Scholarships, including the post-doctoral fellowship programs. Also Indian students in Israel can also avail the benefits under the India-Israel Joint Academic Research Program. This is a government-to-government initiative between India and Israel, which is a funding programs for joint academic research launched in May, 2013. As per the program, the government of both the nations is contributing $2.5 million on an annual basis for a period of five years. The funding is being granted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in India and the Israel Science Foundation.
According to officials of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, most of the start-ups of Israel have been set up or are being run by Technion graduates. As per Tel Aviv University (TAU) officials, they offers various Scholarships to Indian students, including full Scholarships. Officials of the Ben-Gurion University (BGU) have stated that students pursuing Master of Arts (MA) in Natural Sciences and Desert Studies at the varsity are given full Scholarships. At present, more than 90 Indian students are enrolled in the university.
